Approach
The biggest challenge of the implementation was having 3-tier process hierarchy (Service-Process-Activity) and 2 dimensional BIA such as Full BIA (covering all activities under the related Service) and Exceptional BIA (selected activity due to changes).
Accommodating and mapping the organizational hierarchy (Organizations, Divisions, Business Units) and Business Continuity Hierarchy (Organizations, Country, Service, Process, Activity) and linking them to actual BIA records has been challenging.
Our Solution
We handle the need with leveled applications of Business Continuity Hierarchy. Scoping the BIA Campaign as Full or Exceptional and populating the related Service BIAs, Process BIAs and Activity BIAs in one application with several Archer-to-Archer datafeeds allowed us to achieve the customer requirements.
The Result
Customer can manage full life-cycle of Business Impact Assessments, Business Continuity Planning, BCM Risk Management and Issue Management processes for several countries. It highly increased automation in BIA creation and collecting input from process owners, increased data quality, visibility and accountability. It also allows very effective maintenance of linkages between business and IT assets such as vital records, facilities, applications related to Business Continuity Plans.
